At MGM Timber (Scotland) Ltd, we recognise that we have a responsibility to minimise our environmental impact, and believe that we must balance meeting our business needs with this responsibility to the planet.

Due to this, we take great care when choosing products, to ensure their traceability and integrity.  Where possible, l our products are sourced from well-managed forests that are governed by strict environmental accreditation programmes.

MGM Timber has been granted certification by CATG,  a leading certification body accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service). This covers the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody Scheme, and the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC)® Chain of Custody Scheme.

MGM Timber was the first merchant business in Scotland to achieve certification at all locations in July 2006.

 


Timber and the Environment

The use of timber in construction has important environmental advantages, especially when compared with alternatives such as concrete, steel and plastics.

Timber is:
