    Customer Questions
    WHAT IS MARINE PLYWOOD?
Marine plywood is a special type of plywood designed for use in environments that are wet, humid and prone to water exposure. Examples could be the kitchen or bathroom.
    IS MARINE PLYWOOD ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?
Yes, MGM Timber ensures responsible sourcing and offers plywood from sustainable and responsibly managed forests, contributing to environmental conservation. Using certified marine plywood from MGM can align with sustainable practices and minimise environmental impact.
CAN MARINE PLYWOOD BE USED FOR STRUCTURAL APPLICATIONS?
Yes, marine plywood is suitable for structural applications, especially when moisture resistance is a concern. It is commonly used for boat building, flooring, sub-flooring, roofing, and other load-bearing projects where durability and water resistance are essential.
WHAT MAKES MARINE PLYWOOD DIFFERENT FROM STANDARD PLYWOOD?
Marine plywood uses waterproof adhesives to bond the wood veneers, making it highly resistant to water and moisture penetration. Standard plywood, on the other hand, may have a different level of moisture resistance.

    DELIVERY AND RETURNS

MGM have 3 different delivery methods, branch delivery, delivered to order and supplier direct. Each of these options carries different charges and restrictions.

    Branch Delivery

Branch delivery involves MGM delivering goods from their own stock directly to your desired address. MGM Timber operate a delivery service out of all their branches.

We aim to deliver all orders within 1-2 working days in most areas but certain postcodes will result in higher lead times and in some cases increased delivery charges. When shopping online, once your postcode has been added, the basket page will automatically calculate your estimated delivery lead times and charges.

Please contact us before ordering if you are concerned about delivery timescales or have concerns about delivery process e.g. difficult access, weight restrictions. Please note, someone must be at the delivery address to receive the order and all orders are kerbside only!

For information on Click & Collect at your local branch please click here

    What does it cost?

For most areas, our delivery charge is £20 (ex-VAT). If your order is over the value of £300 (ex-VAT) it will qualify for FREE delivery.

For some more remote areas, we have a minimum order value, higher delivery fee and / or free delivery threshold.  We regularly review these and try to keep them as low as possible.

To see the delivery cost for your address, please build your order in the basket and add your postcode.

For trade customer (cash or credit) branch delivery is free. However, if your basket also contains delivered to order or supplier direct products, an additional charge may be applied.

What happens after I place an order?

You will receive an email confirming your order, then your local branch will contact you within one working day to arrange your delivery and agree a specific date.
What happens on the day of the delivery?

Deliveries are to the kerbside ONLY. This means that we cannot come into your house with any product ordered. Please ensure you have the necessary ability and equipment (if required) to move the items into your property or to help unload if necessary.

If your delivery address has any access, vehicle size & weight or time of day access restrictions please let us know as soon as you have placed your order.

For our Terms & Conditions relating to Deliveries please see the section 3 of our Ecommerce Terms & Conditions

    Delivered to Order

In some cases, our branches will order stock in from one of our suppliers to accommodate your order. While we try and deliver these orders within the same lead times stated above, in some cases there may be additional delays from the supplier in delivering your goods to us. Your branch will always contact you to inform you of any changes.

Delivered to order products are only available in the same areas of Scotland covered by branch delivery.

When products are ordered in from our suppliers, there may be an additional delivery cost that will be passed on to you at the point of order. Please see the table below for more information.
