FAQS ABOUT INSULATION BOARDS
HOW MANY INSULATION BOARDS DO I NEED?
The number of insulation boards you will need for your project depends on several factors, including: The size of the area you want to insulate The thickness of the insulation boards you plan to use The type of installation you are carrying out To calculate the number of boards you will need, begin by measuring the area you want to insulate and divide it by the area covered by each board.  Make sure to also consider boards you will need for corners, gaps, edges or special cuts.
HOW DO YOU FIT INSULATION BOARDS?
Once you have a clean, smooth surface, you can begin to apply your insulation boards. Begin by adding an adhesive layer to the surface using a tool such as a notched trowel.  Next, press the insulation boards firmly into place, ensuring they are level and flush with the surface. If required, you can use a handsaw or utility knife to cut around any immovable obstacles.  Finally, sealant or tape can seal any gaps between the insulation boards, which will help to prevent any air gaps and optimise your installation.
WHAT ARE INSULATION BOARDS MADE FROM?
Insulation boards can be made from a variety of materials, including but not limited to polyisocyanurate (PIR), expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), and polyurethane (PUR).  At MGM, our insulation boards are made from polyisocyanurate (PIR). PIR is fire resistant and has low thermal conductivity, helping it to maintain heat. It is also biological and moisture resistant, making it a strong, durable choice for material to use for installation.
