Our Environmental Promise
At MGM Timber, we recognise the importance of the environment in our business strategy by continually seeking to improve our environmental performance and reduce any adverse impacts on the environment. We must balance meeting our business needs with the responsibility we have to our planet.
Sustainably Sourced Timber
We recognise that timber as a building material is a truly renewable, natural and non-toxic resource when properly managed and therefore fully endorse the requirements of our FSC® and PEFC chain of custody schemes, to ensure that our timber is legally and sustainably sourced.
MGM Timber has been granted certification by CATG, a leading certification body accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service). This covers the Forest Stewardship council® (FSC)® chain of custody scheme, C015696 and the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody Scheme.
MGM Timber was the first merchant business in Scotland to achieve certification at all locations in July 2006. Look for our FSC® certified products.
FSC® Certificate number is CU-COC-827076
PEFC certificate is CATG-PEFC-405
As of January 2020, James Donaldson and Sons achieved ISO50001 certification and over the last year has implemented ISO 50001 procedures to all MGM Timber branches, creating fluid and efficient processes to ensure all energy sources are measured and accounted for. Achieving this international standard demonstrates that we will work to continuously improve our energy management procedures and where possible to lower our carbon footprint.
ISO5001 certification underpins MGM’s commitment to be a responsible and sustainable business.
