OUR TIMBER DECKING BOARD SIZES

For our decking timber, we offer a standard size of 28x144mm board. If you require a more specific size of board, then talk to our in-store timber specialists about getting a custom board or several custom boards cut to size.

OUR TIMBER DECKING OPTIONS

We supply a wide range of decking timber options, such as:

  • 28x144mm Certified Redwood Anti-Slip Decking Treated – an ideal option for garden projects, this model of decking wood comes with anti-slip technology built in. Each board is manufactured with grooves on one side and a smooth finish on the other to provide additional grip in wet environments.
  • 28x144mm Certified Redwood Decking Board Treated Timber – another great choice for garden projects, this decking wood is manufactured from slow-growing red pine. This offers greater strength and durability. This type of board also comes with grooves built-in for better grip.

FAQS ABOUT TIMBER DECKING
WHAT TIMBER DO I USE FOR A DECKING FRAME?
The best timber is carcassing treated as this can be in ground contact.  However, most people fit the frame to posts in the ground so the frame can be off the ground.  If the frame is off the ground, C16 timbers can be used.
WHAT SIZE TIMBER FOR A DECKING FRAME?
Size depends on what height you have to work with.  Our standard decking is 144mm so the 45x145 C16 works well, or the 47x150mm carcassing as a board of decking will cover this.  But can use 3x2, 4x2, 5x2 or 6x2 depending on the specific project.
HOW LONG DOES TIMBER DECKING LAST?
The average lifespan of timber decking in the UK is 10 – 15 years, but it can last longer than this if it is frequently maintained.  Proper installation, with ventilation underneath the decking and the correct spacing between boards is essential as it helps prevent moisture build up and rot.  Annual cleaning, treatment and staining will help your decking last for a long period of time.
